Jefferson County Genealogy Society is offering a new class, Genealogy: The Basics – an introduction to the basic concepts and tools used in family history research. This three-session class is designed for the beginner — the person who doesn’t know how to best approach their research.
We will focus on researching in the United States, but basic concepts are transferrable to researching anywhere in the world. We’ll discuss census records and vital records to begin your research and introduce you to online sources (websites and search techniques) and finding research done by others. Participants will also learn how to organize and maintain the data they obtain, both hard-copy and computerized formats.
Genealogy: The Basics will be held on three consecutive Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:30, on March 25, April 8 and 15, 2018 at the Jefferson County Historical Society Research Center at 13692 Airport Cutoff Road (Highway 19), a few miles south of Port Townsend.
The fee for the class is $30 for JCGS members and $55 for non-members (this includes a one-year JCGS membership).
The class will be limited to 15 students.
Registration Deadline is March 16, 2018. The registration form is available HERE and at the Research Center.
